Vote of thanks for the Images & Text

I would like to thank George Grant for the main photographs used in this site, a very talented photographer. All contributions of photographs have been greatly appreciated and although not all have made it onto the site, it was a great joy to go through them and witness the great times that have been spent with the Alamo Burns Club, home and away!!

A special thank you to the Burns Federation, Irvine Burns Club, Dalry Burns Club and the Friends of Ellisland Farm, who have given us written permission to use images and text from their websites in the quest to further promote the life and works of Robert Burns.  Visit their respective websites, (please use the links in the previous page) you will find them both entertaining and informative, a great way to research Burns. The postage stamp images from the Dalry Burns Club are especially appreciated as it further shows the influence of the Bard across the world.

The main logo for the club, which can be viewed at the top right hand side of the pages and on the home page is by Archibald Skirving  in 1798. He never met Burns and made the sketch from an other picture but Skirving was very talented so it could be fairly accurate depiction of  the Bard.

A vote of thanks must go to the Alamo Bar for hosting the ‘Alamo Burns Club’ for the last 34 plus years and for hopefully many more to come. From Tony Ferry to Bill Chadwick the best hosts & publicans in Paisley.  Without their unwavering support, understanding and hospitality, the club would not be as successful as it is today.

Rest assured we will always………..Remember the Alamo!!

For allowing us to display the information surrounding the Alamo, San Antonio, Texas. It helps to show the Scottish connections across the world and especially the fact that Robert Burns, the ploughman's poet, is known and celebrated across the world.

Vote  of thanks to the  Official Alamo Website and the ‘ Daughters of the Republic of Texas’

This website would be nothing without the contributions of the hard working and dedicated members of the Alamo Burns Club.

They are always willing to share a story, poem and song or two over a wee dram. Many a great night was had researching the material for this site. So much so that I have also become an Alamo Burns Club member.

So here’s to the future years of the club…………….To the maist honest, good natured, hard drinkin’ bletherers ever,  O’ the Paisley Alamo Burns Club.
